World War I and World War II changed the shape of Europe and the lives of countless millions of its people. Both civilian and armed forces suffered grievously, with survivors badly scarred, physically and emotionally.

Today we continue to live out the long term effects of these human catastrophes. It is left to us to learn what happened in these awful conflicts and to learn from what happened - and then to remember.

On Tuesday 7th September, our Director Des Brogan and Kathleen Brogan were invited to attend the official press launch of the Poppy Scotland's promotional film ‘The Journey’. Alongside comprehensive teaching resources developed by Learning and Teaching Scotland, the film,shot in collaboration with MTI, will be distributed to every school in Scotland to provide teachers with the support to cover the topics of WWI, conflict and citizenship.

It was on an MTI WWI Tour in May 2010 that the Poppy Scotland Fundraising Manager and film crew joined the 'DunbarPals Battalion'on their Battlefield Experience with us to shoot the film. Although the film was ultimately edited, the student’s were in no way scripted.

Their testimonies are the true, honest thoughts and reactions of typical 15yr olds who experience the Battlefields of Europe with us and shows the potential of all young people to learn and empathise with men who made the ultimate sacrifice for us.
