Overview

Hitler’s early victories had led to the construction of the Atlantic Wall, designed to protect ‘Fortress Europe’. – To breach it was the Allies greatest challenge.

On 6 June 1944, the forces of the British Empire and USA broke through the Wall on the beaches of Normandy. The historic ‘Operation Overlord’ had been launched, which would liberate Europe and become the turning point, sealing the fate of the Nazi regime. Join our expert battlefield guides as they reveal the stories of the remarkable day and  honour the courage of those whose endeavours defeated Nazism and the Third Reich.
