Just over twenty five years after the ending of “The War To End All Wars”, Europe once more braced itself for a cataclysmic battle. Britain, Canada, and the USA prepared to meet Germany on the beaches of Normandy.
On 6th June 1944, 156,000 soldiers stormed onto a stretch of French coastline spanning 50 miles and five beaches. ‘Operation Overlord’ had begun.
The Allies - British, Canadian and American - aimed to breach the German defences known as ‘The Atlantic Wall’. Their ultimate goal was the liberation of Europe from Nazi occupation.
Mercat Tours International takes you back in time to honour those whose determination and valour secured the first major victory for the Allies and led to the ultimate defeat of Germany.
