Security
As former teachers ourselves, we understand completely the paramount importance of safety. The safety of your students is our priority too.
Personal Security
Mercat Tours International demonstrates its commitment to security in the following ways:
- All guides are approved to work with young people by Disclosure Scotland.
- Activities are organised so that the guide is never alone with a student.
- There is clear demarcation of responsibilities between guide and teaching staff: the latter have sole responsibility for discipline at all times.
- Completed risk assessments are available relating to all sites visited.
- All accommodation is inspected personally by company personnel.
- Coaches are subject to statutory transport checks.
Financial Security
In accordance with the EC Directive on Package Holidays, all monies received by Mercat Tours International are deposited in a Trust Fund administered by Anderson Strathern WS, Edinburgh. It means your monies are safeguarded until after the tour and can be refunded to you in case of cancellation by us.
Your Students’ Responsibilities
Students must carry a current passport. It is possible for the school to organise a Group Passport on their behalf.
Students are most strongly encouraged to obtain a EHIC (European Health Insurance Card) available online at www.dh.gov.uk/travellers or from the Post Office.
Mercat Tours International recommends all students take out travel insurance that covers loss of deposit, cancellation by the student, loss of baggage or money, medical, additional board and travel expenses.
